It's easy to get started with Golden Venture Folding. Here, you will learn how to create 3D Origami units from ordinary printer paper. No special origami paper required!

Cutting paper to size

1.

Start with a standard piece of US Letter or A4 Paper. Fold the paper in half, along the long side.

2.

Fold the paper in half along the long side a second time.

3.

Unfold the paper completely. You should now have 4 equal-sized columns.

4.

Fold the paper in half, along the short side this time.

5.

Fold the paper in half along the short side a second time.

6.

If you want large units, skip this step. If you want small units, fold the paper in half along the short side a third time.

7.

Unfold the paper completely. You should now have 16 or 32 equally sized rectangular boxes. Cut these boxes out along the crease lines to get 16 or 32 equally sized pieces of paper.

Folding paper into units

1.

Fold the paper in half, along the long side. Ensure the crease is facing towards the bottom.

2.

Fold the paper in half, along the short side this time, to make a crease. Then, open the fold back up.

3.

On each side of the crease you just made, fold the bottom edge up to meet that crease. This should make a point at the bottom.

4.

Turn the piece around to the other side.

5.

On each of the overhanging rectangular pieces, fold the outer corner down so the short edge meets the top edge of the large triange.

6.

Fold the overhanging pieces down over the top. The folded corner from the last step should be flush with the edge of the triangle.

7.

Finally, fold the triangle down the middle.
